What this calculates
The Gross Salary difference between any two scale/stage/qualification combinations — useful for comparing a promotion offer, two career paths, or simply understanding how much a specific stage or qualification is worth in Gross Salary terms.
Formula
Each configuration is computed independently — Basic Pay from the scale’s stage progression (including JAIIB/CAIIB bonus stages and Stagnation Increments/PQP if at the top), then Gross Salary = Basic + DA + HRA + CCA + Special Allowance + Learning Allowance. The difference is simply B minus A.
Worked example
Configuration A: Scale I, Stage 5 (Gross ₹98,319). Configuration B: Scale II, Stage 3 (Gross ₹1,22,353). Difference = ₹24,034 per month.
FAQs
Can I compare two stages in the same scale?
Yes — set both configurations to the same scale with different stages to isolate the effect of tenure alone.
Does HRA Area/CCA differ between the two configurations?
No — this calculator assumes the same posting location for both configurations, since HRA/CCA depend on where you’re posted, not your scale or stage. If you need to compare different postings too, the difference in HRA/CCA is a separate, simple calculation you can do on top of this result.
